Rebecca J. Alperin, Ph.D.

Dr. Rebecca Alperin received her undergraduate degree from Chatham University (cum laude and with honors in psychology), an MS in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, and an MA in psychology from the University of Toledo.  She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toledo in 2004, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship through the Northwest Ohio Psychology Consortium with an emphasis on treating children and adolescents.

After working for several years at a local community mental health center, Dr. Alperin started private practice in 2010.  She has provided individual and group supervision of doctoral-level clinical psychology graduate students both in agency and private practice settings, and was a part-time instructor for group practicum through the University of Toledo’s Clinical Psychology program.  

Dr. Alperin works with children, adolescents, and adults, and specializes in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral and adjustment issues.  She also has a specialty in conducting psychological evaluations to help clarify diagnostic questions and provide appropriate treatment recommendations for issues such as ADHD and/or autism.

Dr. Alperin is licensed in Ohio and Michigan, and also has her PSYPACT Authorization to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT).

 

 

 

Jennifer B. Smirnoff, Ph.D., MBA, LPCC-S

Dr. Jennifer Smirnoff received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Ohio University in 1996. She earned a master’s degree in Community Counseling from Eastern Michigan University in 1998.  She received both her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision (2002), and MBA (2016) from The University of Toledo.

Dr. Smirnoff served as a visiting faculty member of counseling at Western Michigan University and The University of Toledo. She served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry from 2009-2016 where she provided psychotherapy instruction and supervision to psychiatry residents, in addition to providing clinical services in the Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic at UTMC. Dr. Smirnoff has participated in research throughout her career including PTSD.

Dr. Smirnoff has worked as a counselor for over 20 years in academic and agency settings. She has been in private practice since 2016. She has expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as behavior modification and parenting. She works with both children and adults specializing in anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, mood disorders, and ADHD.

Dr. Smirnoff is licensed in both Ohio and Michigan.
